Abstract Gender Installation

I’ve wanted to set up these animations as a final installation for a while now, and finally everything fell into place yesterday (with a few technical difficulties along the way) and I was able to utilise the university’s four ‘swivel’ screens which had the perfect dimensions for my animations. They were all connected to one computer so the four computers acted as one big screen which made things quite confusing navigating the videos across them but it was also a very exciting process.

The installation was  silent one (apart from the natural hum of the machines) and yet I felt that in documenting the installation I should try and capture the feeling that the physical space created. I therefore edited together a thirty second video to a 30 second David Bowie track called ‘Space’. The sound seemed to aptly describe the futuristic nature of the sequential installation and also make the video more compelling. I am really pleased with the end result, and feel like it is a ‘natural’ endpoint for this project.
